Team Epic Forum Guidelines

Hi, everyone! To keep the forum moving along smoothly and speedily (relatively speaking), here are some guidelines for newbies and oldbies alike.

1) Try to post in the right forum. It’s easier to find posts if we all take note of the categories and topics. And you’re more likely to get a response in the right category.

2) Please don’t use text messaging/IM jargon (such as “ur” instead of “your,” or all lower-case letters, among other such icky things). We strongly encourage use of correct English spelling, punctuation, case & grammar, so as to make it easy for everyone to understand and read your messages. Anyone can make typos or errors now and then, so we won’t warn you for an occasional goof. However, continuing to post without correct punctuation or spelling will get a light hand-slap.

3) Posting the same message in more than one forum is STRICTLY forbidden. Similarly, commercial posts and attempts to solicit funds are forbidden without prior approval from the administrator. If you wish to advertise, please contact us as we do have a sponsorship program in place to advertise for each episode.

4) Keep signatures short. Please keep signatures to two or three lines if at all possible. Excessive sigs should be edited! NO large images in your signatures, please. Sigs that don’t meet these standards will be removed.

5) Please do not sign your name to posts unnecessarily. Since your username is added to every post automatically, there’s no need to put your name at the bottom of posts or into your signature.

6) Before posting a new topic asking for advice, do a search for older topics to see if there are similar subjects already addressed. (The new forum’s search capability is very fast, and it won’t take long!) Then feel free to add your own question to the bottom of these threads. This keeps all the information easy to access!

7) We have little tolerance for bad behavior, so no flaming or personal insults are allowed. Of course, critical comments and negative reviews of other websites, other individual series, other zines and networks are allowed, but threads will be closely monitored and edited if the tone turns nasty.

8) No doppelgangers, twins, clones, alternate personalities, etc. Our record on spotting duplicates here at the Team Epic is roughly 97% accurate, so don’t think you’re likely to fool anyone here. You’ll be allowed one personality here, so make it a good one.

9) You can post images, but no more than one per post, and keep their file size under 10K each. Otherwise you slow the thread down for others. It’s better to post offsite links to the images than try to link them directly. No massive banners that will mess up our layout, either.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disregarding these rules once as a newbie or regular poster will usually just get you a warning or a slap on the wrist.

However, if anyone—regular or newbie—is particularly flagrant and abuse the common Web-etiquette rules about flaming and spamming, your posting rights will be revoked ASAP and you’ll need to start again. Multiple violations of the above will get you banned.

We want to have fun and concentrate on enjoying each other’s company, and chatting about web-based and other entertainment. These guidelines will help us do that! Thanks everyone.
